Julie Lochbrunner blev ordförande…
Efter att ha bott i Spanien i tre månader bestämde sig Julie för att, i takt med det ökande behovet, hjälpa hundar, katter och andra djur i Andalucien.
Mitzou, hennes vän, som redan var mycket engagerad i djurskydd och som bott i Andalucien i mer än 20 år, blev vice ordförande…
20 mars 2000 i samband med en välgörenhetsfest i syfte att samla in pengar till djuren och tacka hennes vän Ginette Schockmel, f d ordförande i Costa Animals Society (CAS), blev Julie presenterad för Ann-Sofie Carle, ordförande för SWECAS… detta var början till ett stort äventyr i Sverige, ett äventyr till förmån för hundarna…
Coco…”the Bricklayer Dog”, var den första hunden av en lång rad hundar som kom till Sverige. Hans ägare, Kiki, som kom till Spanien för att hämta honom, upptäckte misären och behovet av att rädda hundar i Andalucien…
Sedan samarbetet med ADA, Animales de Andalucia som fick namnet efter Julie’s förening.
Därefter Julie Rescue of Animales de Andalucia av vilken idag Julie Rescue är ordförande.
Under dessa sju år har Julie aldrig slutat delta i kampen att hjälpa djuren i Andalucien och i hela Spanien… aldrig tvekat att upplåta sin tid och sin hälsa för att rädda en övergiven hund här… eller en katt där som glömts bort av sin ägare och låsts in i en lägenhet…
Mycket välkänd i domstolen, hos polisen och civilgardet för att försvara ett övergivet djur gentemot dess ägare.
Militant från dag ett krävde hon en djurskyddslag…mot jakten med Galgos, mot tjurrusningarna, mot att använda djur på marknaderna… kort sagt, överallt där hjälp behövdes för dessa stackars varelser.
Fram tills idag har Julie räddat 6 225 djur… alla har funnit en rofylld tillflykt, lyckliga, i Sverige, Frankrike, Tyskland och nu också i Holland, tack vare samarbetet med RescueDog Europé och Trynette och Sanna…
Den kommunala djurinhägnaden i Almuñecar var hennes stridshäst…
Inte en vecka, inte en månad passerade utan att Julie vädjade till media, till kommunen för upprättandet av räddningscentret, ett löfte som gavs redan för 7 år sedan…
Julie tvekade inte att upplåta sitt hus, sin trädgård för att ta emot 6 225 djur för att ge dem ett värdigt liv och en säker och lycklig framtid…
Hennes stridshäst var… kärlek och god mat och allt kunde vara glömt…
Hon talade om räddningscentret med alla, tvekade inte att vänta vid borgmästarens dörr för att påminna honom om hans löfte… hennes intervention på TV och i alla medier blev slutligen hörsammad.
Grundstenen för räddningscentret Cantalobo lades den 2 oktober 2006
Framför Almuñecar’s borgmästare och en stor samling människor, bad borgmästaren Julie att lägga grundstenen… denna ära tillfaller henne, sa han…hon har kämpat länge nog för detta…
En stor dag för alla djur, en stor dag för Julie och för alla djurvänner…
Räddningscentret kommer att stå färdigt inom 10 månader.
Juvelen bland räddningscentren i Andalucien, deklarerade Juan Carlos Benavides, Almuñecars
borgmästare, 20 000 kvadratmeter mark i bergen, en underbar plats, utan omgivande hus…
Cantalobo ”Vargarnas sång”… är inte detta ett vackert namn på ett räddningscenter?
Marken köptes av en medlem av föreningen, Emilio Varella och överlämnades sedan till Stadshuset
enbart i syfte för upprättandet av räddningscentret…
Så, det har skett… Cantalobo kommer snart att bli Canta Perros (Hundarnas sång).
Ja, de kommer att sjunga ut sin tacksamhet, de kommer att sjunga för att säga sitt ”Merci” till Julie…

Julie Lochbrunner became the founding President…
After living in Spain for three months, Julie decided that in view of the growing need, to help dogs, cats and any other animals in Andalucia.

March 20th, 2000, in the course of a charity dinner party with the aim of raising money for the animals and thanks to her friend Ginette Schockmel, ex-President of the
Costa Animals Society (CAS), Julie was introduced to Ann-Sofie Carle, President of SWECAS….this was the beginning of a great adventure with Sweden, an adventure which was for the benefit of the dogs….
Coco "the Bricklayer Dog", was the first of a long list of dogs going to Sweden. His owner, Kiki, coming to Spain to pick him up, discovered the miseries and the necessity of saving dogs in Andalucia…..
Then, collaboration with ADA, Animales de Andalucia, which took the name of Julie's Association…..
Then, JulieRescue of Animales de Andalucia, of which, to date, Julie Lochbrunner is President.
During these seven years, Julie has not stopped being present in the fight to help the animals in Andalucia and in all of Spain…not hesitating to give her time and her health to save an abandoned dog here……or a cat there forgotten by its owners and locked up in an apartment…..
Very well known by Court of Justice, Police and Guardia Civil to defend an abandoned animal against its owner…..
Militant from day one to demand an Animal Protection Law….against the hunting with Galgos, against Bull Runs, against using animals in the Fun Fairs….in one word, anywhere and everywhere when help was needed for these poor creatures…..
To date, Julie has saved 6 225 animals…… all have found a haven of peace, happiness, in Sweden, France, Germany and now also in Holland, thanks to the collaboration of RescueDog Europe, and Trynette and Sanna…..
The Municipal Pound in Almuñecar was her war horse….
Not a week, not a month passed without Julie appealing to the Media, to the Municipality, for the construction of this Refuge, promised already 7 years ago…..
Julie did not hesitate to give her house, her gardens, to receive these 6 225 animals, and to give them a decent life and a secure and happy future…..
Her war horse was…..love and good food, and everything can be forgotten….
She was talking about this Refuge to everybody, not hesitating to wait at the Mayor's door, to remind him of his promises….her interventions on TV and in all the Medias were finally listened to…
The laying of the Cornerstone of the Refuge of Cantalobo was on October 2nd, 2006….
In front of the Mayor of Almuñecar and a large crowd of people…..the Mayor asked Julie to lay the Cornerstone….this honour falls to her he said….she has fought enough for this……
Big day for all the animals, big day for Julie and for all animal lovers…..
The Refuge will open its doors within 10 months…
The jewel of a Refuge in Andalucia declared Juan Carlos Benavides, the Mayor of Almuñecar,
20.000 sqm of land, in the hills, a marvelous place, no houses around…
Cantalobo "Sing the Wolves"….is this not a beautiful name for a Refuge?
This site was bought by a member of the Association, Emilio Varella and then ceded to the Townhall for the sole purpose of the construction of a Refuge….
So, it has been done…. Cantalobo will soon be Canta Perros (Sing the Dogs).
Yes, they will sing their gratitude, they will sing to tell Julie….Merci…
