I am only 9 months
old but already I've been abandonned on the streets
of Granada. A boy from Almunecar found me, curled up
under a car. I
was thin and dehydrated and trembling with cold.
Fascinated by my huge sad eyes the boy took me into
his arms and went
from protection society to protection society to
find me somewhere to
stay. Nobody wanted me..yes they would take me in
but only to put me
to sleep. They all said I would never be adopted and
then the boy
remembered Julie. He called the townhall for her
telephone number and
asked her..yes she could take in a little dog in a
poor state.
Julie who was very emotional after hearing my story
accepted me
immediately and I was taken to Juan the vet where
Julie was waiting
for me...Juan examined me and diagnosed a congenital
deformation in my
hindquarters (back legs) which prevented me from
walking properly. But
I walk and run although not quite as well as other
dogs.
Juan put me on a drip to rehydrate me...as I was
feeling better I
stayed a further 10 days with him in quarantine.
Julie came every day
to visit me with good things to eat..thats when I
discovered chicken.. mmm it tastes so good!
Now I am at La Higuera, sleeping on a soft cushion
in Julie's bed. I
trot behind her and I also love Martin, the new
volunteer. Piotr has
just taken photos of me..I was so excited about
rolling around in the
fresh grass I'd never known before.. and I think
about how sweet my
life is at La Higuera.
